So I have been thinking again...
Here is my ultimate dilemma.
I am debating on parting with my WS6 again. I thought of it a while ago, but couldn't justify it. This is when I was still living with my parents, so I really couldn't part with it.
Story on my car is I have had it since I was 17. I wrecked my 94 formula after falling asleep driving to school, and shortly after that found my current WS6. I have done every mod myself, and the car and I have been through hell and back. Cracking a torque arm when driving home, rear U joint blowing out, setting off my airbags with 3 other people in the car at 10mph, spec stage 2 clutch roasting the PP under stock power, lady running over the front end of my car in a parking lot, many races and burnouts, fun cruises with the t-tops off.... I love this car, but at some point, I would kill for a house with a garage, and have my car in there instead of outside!!!
Now that I am off on my own (with my GF ), I have a different thought process on it.
We recently tried buying a house, because her father decided to pay for the house and we would pay him the mortgage. We were looking, and were about to make our decision in a week or so, and he drops a bomb on us saying, "interest for life", etc. etc. bs. bs. So that was squashed hard.
Since moving out, medical procedures for my back, diabetes, more bills since I'm not under my parents roof, has really put a toll on my finances. I'm not SUPER SUPER in debt, but I do have Credit Card debit. I make huge payments every 2 weeks.
I am 100% selling the civic. After driving it, I just feel like a high school punk driving it, even though it is a BLAST to drive and it handles like a dream lol.
Anyway, my current thought process is: - Sell my WS6 outright OR Part out my WS6, keep some essential parts for my next bird (GMMG, MGW short throw, my stock wheels, and my sweet tail lights.
- Pay off my debt and save for a house WITH A GARAGE to store my toys. If I sold the above 2 vehicles I would be out of debt.
- Buy another pristine LT1 WS6, buy back my current bird, or buy a LS1 WS6. Keep it in the garage where it should be. Not rotting away outside like my current one.
I don't know most of you guys personally, but some input is always good from car people. If I was really going to sell my bird, I would prefer to sell it to a club member here who I KNOW will take good care of it, and maybe a few years down the road wouldn't mind selling it back . Of course, if they don't, no big deal... I'll find another!
TLDR:
Should I sell/partout my bird so I can pay off my debt?

You will never get what you want for the car and its a bad season to sell a perf (lulz @ LT1 perf) RWD car.
Find a place to stash it, take it off insurance and let it sit while you figure out life. Otherwise, take a hit on it price wise and move on. Whats KBB, 3 or 4 thousand? Ain't worth it IMO. But, if you really are strapped for cash do it while you have some fall season left.

Getting out of debt is always the most logical choice. Nothing ever goes quite to plan so while it will suck to sell the toys, knowing you are in a better financial position will relieve stress and put your mind at ease.

Agreed lol, which is why I hinted at parting out .
I know I can easily get ~$3-4k for 1/3 of the car lol.
Hood/airbox (OEM WS6 setup)
Vette wheels
Transmission
Rear end
Torque arm/xmember
Headers/Y-pipe

Amen. Just thinking about when I have my own garage and parking a fresh WS6 in there makes me happy lol. Not seeing it outside everyday getting soaked, dirty, covered in snow... Rotting away...

Parting out takes time and a place to store parts. And with anything LT1, bring on the tire kicking, broke idiots who want everything for free.

True. I can just leave it in my parents driveway while I piece it out. Financially that makes the most sense, but since I don't have a garage to piece it out, and it is getting cold.... its going to suck lol.

So you are going to sell both cars and drive what? I'd only part it if I can get the first big item or two sold before doing all of the small things.

My mom bought my G5 off of me, so I'd probably drive that again. I sold the G5 for the civic, so if I sell the civic I will be ahead by quite a bit in that game
True about the part out. I have my dads 93 non ram air hood I can use to cover the hood if I sell that together. Wheels are easy, trans/headers would be the hardest one to take out, out of everything listed. Knew I shouldn't have done the headers lol. Car sounds so damn good now though! oh well :P

What could you get for the civic? I'd run that thru the winter and sell in the spring. Using someone else's car (even though its your mom) is not always the best thing to do. You'll have to jockey around her schedule to use it etc. Sell the bird to get you in the good financially and keep the Honda as its cheaper to run than the bird, plus the depreciation is out of the civic already.
Odds are, if everything goes to plan and once you are situated in a house down the line you'll probably never want you old bird again and get something better/nicer.
*Also be careful buying a house w/your girlfriend. I say that b/c if things go "Pontiac" and dissolve it will add another element to your stress (does 1 leave sticking the other w/the mortgage, want out and be force to put the house up for sale possibly taking a hit, etc). I bought my house when I was dating my wife, but didn't want to add her to the mix when it came around to financing. I know it will be harder securing a mortgage but may pay off down the line for the 'what if' scenario.......or put a ring on it.

As per honduh tech, they said $4500-$5000 depending on the buyer (lol). I paid $3000 for it. I am about ~$400 into it with the front/rear brakes, TPS, and carpet. Still has Indiana plates on it, so I am trying to not register it.
The G5 is a spare car, so no issue of me driving it everyday. My mom has a 09 camry but she wanted a "back up" car, even though her camry will never break .
Noted with the GF. She makes way more $$ than me so it may be the other way around lol.

Do not buy a house with your girlfriend. Buy a house with your wife or on your own.

I'm OK with her buying and me essentially paying rent. As long as the place had 2 bedrooms and a garage lol

Listen to Sweetbmx.
If you can't land a mortgage without help, then don't buy. Especially don't buy a house with your girlfriend's father holding the note. You'll eventually end up broke, out on your ass, no cars and wondering what the hell happened.

yeah, the father thing fell through. It was a good deal originally then he twisted it hardcore. He would not hold the deed (would be in the GFs name). Regardless, it won't happen.
I dont need to buy, I just want a place with a garage. I have to garage hunt now for my VFR because my parents garage is still full of **** and my friend is moving to FL sooner than he expected. I will not pay ~$100 a month for storage either. Ugh

I was debating on a small movable shed. Pretty sure the HOA wouldn't have it, and my parent's driveway is already packed solid.
Trailer is a good idea. Wonder if it can sit in a parking spot at my condominium lol

Clean house. You are not sitting on some rare Yenko car or anything.

Time to start getting the cars/parts sold. Not doing anyone any good by having them sit in a garage.

Indeed it does. I think I am just finally able to part ways with it. Even though I've enjoyed so much with it.....
