I will start by saying I blame this entire thread on Smash aka LTb1ow. He exposed me to diesel things and it's ability to haul around shamu like it was a toy car. As some of you may have seen, I am consolidating the cars (Yukon is sold / Lexus for sale) so my irrational brain figured a nice pick-up would be ideal.

I told myself a good gas truck will do just fine but no, I have a mental problem. I started looking at used 2011+ diesels. I then got the bug for the newer body style 2015+. Not quite finding what I wanted (options weren't right, spotty service histories, etc.), my Dad said why not a new one. The intent was not to get a new one but the price difference was nearly negligible when comparing the discounts to a used model. The numbers worked out and I happened to stumble on the exact model, trim, etc I wanted only 20 miles away. A few calls later and it was done. I picked it up a couple days ago and I'm pretty smitten with it.

The only questionable item is the new 2017 engine/turbo which is supposedly 90% all new with more power (445hp/910tq). Hopefully it proves to be reliable but that's why it has a warranty. The power increase is nice and the truck does feel more powerful than the 2015 and 2016 I drove. It's all entirely overkill at the moment so the next project will be getting a trailer.

And yes I've already ordered new LED fog light housings.

I love the GMC front end! Which dealer did you go through? I'm dreaming of a White 1500 with the elevation package.

Jelli, very jelli.

DEF tank will go every 3k or so miles, so stay on top of that.

EFIlive, remove all torque limiting so you can actually tow with those big numbers

Yea they said 3 to 5k range. I heard going to a place with big trucks will have fresh DEF on pump so that will be my project for this week. I can feel the truck is softer in 1st on purpose to limit torque so I'm sure the computer is pulling things back.

Don't I need multiple? Would seem easier to just hit the gas station and fill it from a pump.

My freightliner at work holds just north of 5 gallons and lasts quite awhile. They are sold in 2.5 gallons i think.

Youll be fine buying 2 jugs from the store

Its cat piss, any brand will work.

I think my car will take 2.5 gal, so either top off every fuel fill or wait to fill at once.

Should I harvest Jax piss? Or does Russian cat not agree with capitalist truck?

Thanks! Maybe in a month or so. Won't be long. I like my heat rejection ceramic. LED fog housings have been ordered and folding hard bed cover should be in soon.
