Would it kill Speed TV.....
to cut 5 hrs out of the non stop NACAR crap to put on some REAL car shows like American Muscle Car? This is SAD! Ill take European GT racing, but NOT NASCAR!! Enough is enough.

That would be a useful show! That's what I plan on building for my Monte someday.

NASCAR kicks ass!!! Â*especially when your driver wins...Go Gordon!!! Â*anyways, I know NASCAR seems boring cause all they do is drive in a circle, but lets face facts...none of us here can even come close to driving those cars the way any of those drivers do...plus when they take those cars out on a road course, that is awesome...went to Pocono last summer...and hearing those cars pass buy on the second lap at WOT sends chills up your spine...as for the 5 hours of NASCAR on Speed channel, it was for Daytona, more than likely won't see that much NASCAR on there...and just wait till NASCAR comes to NY...

NASCAR is a worthless sport, and only is a waste of money for the big 3.
NASCAR does not help better the breed, unlike SCCA Speed GT racing, or ALMS has done for such cars like the CTS-V, Corvette Z06, and now the GTO and Cobalt SS.
The present Z06 was co-developed with the C6-R race team, and the tricks they learn on thoes engines and cars that can trickle down to production. THAT is what GM should be investing in, not NASCAR.
What things did the Monte benifit from NACAR outside of horrible looking special editions?

yeah...but about 90% of America doesn't watch any of that kind of racing...NASCAR, whether people like it or not, is the most popular racing league in the US...me, personally I like it cause it's all american cars, and it's not everyday you see a monte, a taurus, or a stratus rt perform the way they do on a NASCAR track...also, i haooen to be a huge formula 1 fan, i am a big fan of ferrari's...but that is popular in europe...and people who don't have the speed channel won't ever see those racing leagues, so NASCAR is all they got...

I know its popular...thats what scares me...but it shouldnt be. We should have "ALMS on Fox" not Daytona.
And the Stratus is gone...Charger is there now.
HA, I talk like they are real production cars...when was the last time you saw a 2dr Taurus?
And as for All-American...not what I hear. My friend who is a big NASCAR nerd says the Solara will make its way with the Tundra engine in it....

they're not even the actual cars. they all have pretty much the same body, and i believe they're trying to get every car to have the same engine for parity (if they havn't done so already). NASCAR is so boring. I'd much rather see ALMS or SCCA racing than NASCAR. at least they have real cars.

they have the same shell...the body frame is from each repective car...engines are each manufacturers engine(ford has ford, chevy has chevy, etc)...but all the engines have to confine to NASCAR regulations, but every engine is different and are tuned to each specific driver's style...only reason I like NASCAR so much is that every one is capable of winnig...the car doesn't matter, it's how good the driver is..thats why I haven't really watched any other racing leagues(i watch F1, but I grew up with that)...I not really a big fan of "super car" racing cause you have 1 or 2 cars battle to win...where the rest of the field has to sit back and run for the hell of it...plus no other leagues can have the crashes that NASCAR has with the drivers walking away...

The only major exterior parts that separate cars in the major NASCAR series are the nose, tail, hood, decklid, and side window shape (Headlight stickers don't count). Over half of the templates they use are the same for all three makes.
I wouldn't even think about saying that every driver in a Nextel Cup race has a chance of winning. Only the drivers that have billionair team owners have a shot at winning. So many good drivers are out there that just don't have good equipment to race with. NASCAR keeps trying to change rules to make it cheaper to race, but the guys with the largest R&D budgets will win 95% of the time.
The only true "driver" series are things like IROC - identical cars, all prepared by the same group of people. The drivers don't even know what car they will be driving until raceday. Of course, NASCAR stars win that most of the time bacause the cars are similar to Nextel Cup cars, and they run on the same tracks. Open wheel and dirt track guys that get invited rarely perform well, because they are not in a familier environment.

the last IROC was a different format, wasn't it? i remember it being like one big circle track or road-track race with all the same cars......and now they had an indoor event, with different cars being used. one race featured two Ferrari 360 Modenas, another had two rally cars, etc.
