Special Order 69 Z28 on Ebay

If this car doesn't even have the JL8 4 wheel disc brakes and my car does, then what is my car really worth? This car has some great paperwork with it and a bunch of options, but it's not really that special. Man, I need to get my car done soon!

Yeah, but there have been 4 or 5 bids after it got to $150K. This car was on Ebay last year and sold to the current owner(s) so it does draw big money. People like to see paperwork with a car and this one has a ton of documents with it.

Personally I think this is rediclious. To think that a car is worth to someone 150,000. Like that ******* on barrett jackson that paied like 175,000 for a Chevelle SS.

You need to do some research before making statements like that. If it costs $100,000 to restore a car, why would you sell it for anything less than that? Top flight restorations are not cheap. And the parts needed to do the restoration are very expensive. The guy who paid $2 million for the 71 Hemi Cuda convertible is the one to blame everything on. $175K for a Chevelle is no big deal.

Before you could get a Chevelle SS, in mint cond. for ~20-30k. Now everyone think they have a car thats worth 150k.

Nope. Â*I know a 71 SS454 Chevelle in mint, restored condition just sold for $35K or less and it was here in NJ.

well, personally id just buy a countach or a diablo, but thats me, I could never afford 150k but...I have looked an a 90 diablo for 80k.

if i had credit, it would have been mine, lol. I was thinking about finding say a mint 88 iroc(or some 3rd gen), and putting it in storage and forgetting about it for maybe 20-25 years, lol maybe itll be worth more than. Some of my nicer 3rd gen parts I am putting in my garage attic out of the way, then in like 10-15 years i'll dig them out and being original, maybe ill make some nice cash.

It also depends on what kind of car it is, if it can truly be documented as what they say and the past. I mean the car prices are rediculous, however people are at the point where they know that these things are good investments. I know that just in the time I have owned my chevelle the retail price (In # 1 condition and being a true SS) has gone up by over 11,000. Thats a good interest rate in my book!

For an investment, it's worth it IMO. Personally, I'm a car DRIVER and I wouldn't mind buying a 1st. Gen. and updating it with various parts ie. brakes, interior, engine. It would ruin the value, but I would have more fun.

that was the plan with my '88 formula, but then a cash crunch hit and i had to use it to drive everyday. Â*still, if i was able to put it away with less than 50K miles on it, it'd be worth at least what i paid for it back then. Â*i had all of the paperwork for it, as well, knowing that paperwork makes a car worth more... Â*hindsight is always 20/20, but looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.

my '69 coupe with 307/th350 3.08:1 with all original interior cost me $13k. Â*i'm not complaining in the least, since on a good day it will fetch $20K at auction. Â*it will be worth even more in years to come. Â*there seems to be a rollercoaster ride with the prices. Â*they start reaching phenomenal prices, then plateau for a while before starting the climb again. Â*i didn't buy the '69 to turn it over for a profit, but it's still nice knowing i made a smart investment (unlike buying a new car and taking the $10k hit for depreciation just driving it off the dealer's lot

).
