				Hooking a 2nd gen
			 
 
			
			Working on a recently built 75 T/A that just refuses to hook off the line.  It's a bracket car, so it's gutted, bat and cell in truck.  Will go anywhere from a 3/4 to almost getting a full rotation before it will leave, so reaction times are all over the place.
 Have the front shocks (8 way adjutable) set for full weight transfer and the rear at mid setting.  Has all Hotchkis bars and such.
 
 Was running goodyears, switched to QTPs and nothing changed.  Played with compression, rebound etc, burnout, tire pressure, all the "normal stuff"  It's not the track, lots of other 10 and quicker cars having no issue with same tires and and same or higher stall, this thing doesn't want to plant the tire!
 
 Know we have a few of these here, open to suggestions.....

			What kind of rear suspension?

			Car is low 10's normal dail in 10.25-10.30s.  Runs summit points, so this unpredicted spin reults in loosing a few in the 60's and hard to feel from the driver's seat is costing round wins.

			I race with a guy who has a '78 with stock rear springs and slapper bars that does 10's and hooks. I can check out his car to see what he is using front and back. I had slide-a-links on my '77 but it was only a 12.50 car. The biggest issue is weight transfer. I know Cal Trac wants you to have at least 5" of front travel for the rear suspension to work properly. I have Cal Tracs w/split mono leaf and Rancho 9000's on my Nova and they work excellent but I see stock style suspension cars in the 10's all day. I had to get Moroso trick springs for the front with Comp Eng 3 ways.

			We have done a bunch of these cars.. Corner weights, preload on the bars, and shock settings are really important in controlling a leaf spring suspension..

			Had the car scaled, spring changes and shock adjustments and added a RPM controller ( foot brake "cheaters" hand control as they refer to it!) and the car is doing allot better.
 The changes addressed the front suspension was too loose and too limited in the rear.
 
 Seemed good last weekend during TNT until the rain came.

			Weight transfer is hard with a 2nd gen with little weight on the rear tires and a long heavy nose.  Cal-tracs are helpful, but I always get better times with a full tank of gas hanging as much weight behind the rear tires. Another thing that really helps the 2nd gen even more than other models is free moving front suspension... Del-a-lum control-arm bushings and disconnecting the front sway bar will make a world of difference.
