Perhaps the b-pillar is the lightest way they can meet new rollover standard? Maybe no pillar = heavier car. None of us know.

No speculation, that came from Bob Lutz's mouth.
Its either no bpillar, heavier car, and more expensive to buy

 OR

Its got a hidden bpillar, its 400lbs lighter, and cheaper

Both get you the same thing, which would you chose?
Dont like it, dont buy it. Im sure the 2 ton Challenger will have plenty for you to offer, Bpillar and all.

 | That is what I meant. Maybe the b-pillar thing is good for the car.

as far as the release date, it was my understanding that they would have been able to celebrate, through marketing, of course, the fact that it was the 40th anniversary of the first gen. if they wait until 2010, then it's 40 years after the '70 1/2 model, which pretty much took a dump when first introduced. i'd rather not see that happen to the new camaro.

the tie-ins to the first gen are obvious. for them to wait one more year just to get the workers more comfortable with their environment, i say get them started NOW. i just can't see them releasing it in 2010 and missing the opportunity for a 40th anniversary of the first gen, since the car has the obvious styling cues of the first gen. they could even have a special vehicle for celebratory purposes - not unlike the 30th anniversary car.

dunno, i guess it's just me. yes, i want the car. yes, i want it yesterday. but my patience level has nothing to do with the potential marketing opportunities.

 | He is probably reading the GVWR and not the curb weight. Curb weight for a supra turbo is around 3500.
