yeah, if the T case only has 3 selectable gears (including neutral) then it should be: full time 4x4, neutral, low 4x4.

the only possible downside I see to having the full time 4x4 transfer case is that the vehicle seems like its binding up in sharp low speed turns. its not really binding, no damage occurs, but its hard for the vehicle to move forward.

either transfer case is fine. I'd want the one with the option of being in 2wd though just for fuel mileage reasons.

*edit*

and to answer your question of whether or not quadra-tec II a good 4 wheel drive system. yes, it is.

Are you sure that this wasn't 4 full time / Neutral / 4 Low? That's the setup in my wife's '04 WJ. It's full time 4wd, with a low range. It's always in 4wd.

BTW - I would most likely trust WJJeeps.com over a used car salesman anyday....

Well, it won't kill it, but running in 4wd all the time certainly won't help.

I dunno about the 4.0, but I can easily get 20+ mpg in mixed driving with the 4.7 and 5sp auto in my wife's '04.

didnt we already figure out that with the amount of miles you really drive, fuel mileage shouldn't be a deciding factor?

well, like i told you yesterday.. going from 20 mpg to 30 mpg is only a difference in 1.666 gallons for every 100 miles you drive. so if you even drive 400 miles in a week, its only a 6 gallon difference, @ $3/gallon, thats a whopping 18 bucks. IF you drove 400 miles, and IF you were comparing it to something that got 30 mpg. 25 mpg, the difference would be cut in half.
