I'm thinking about buying a sweet 2006 Eclipse GT...

Ive been wanting a new daily driver for some time now and selling off my Denali. The gas mileage is too much even though I barely drive it....
So now my friend is selling her 2006 Mitubishi Eclipse GT, and it got me thinking... She needs to sell it as soon as possible and I figured maybe i'd help her out

Her Eclipse has only just over 23,000 miles and is the 3.8L V6 with 263hp. It also has the sportronic auto trans. She bought it brand new in sept. 2006 in White plains NY and still owes about 19k. The car only has some minor marks on the front bumper but is otherwise very clean. Its also a nice bright red color with black/gray interior. Shes even willing to let someone pay a certain amoutn in cash and then take over payments, which i think only 39 months remains. She drove the car like an old lady so i know how it was treated.

What you guys think.... i may need to jump on it before some of you guys get interested in it.

I think UBG will shake his finger at you....
If you like it, it will get double the mileage of the denali.

 | my family had a 01 Eclipse Gt. Only repairs were a new battery, rebuilt starter, and new tie rods. Car was reliable and decent fun. Gas mileage wasn't phenomenal but far better than your denali. That being said, do you mind the boy racer stigma it portrays? do you mind that there are more efficient cars out there? your choice, the car is new so how bad can it be?

if it was me? i wouldn't do it.

Eh...it looks like a frog with elephantitus. If you wanted the looks with the fuel econ, get a 4 banger. The V6 will get low 20's at best.

For 19k, you can find a cool compact car that will get much better gas milage, and still be decent.

 | amen. she only gets about 19 20 mixed. granted that includes driving in jersey city 5 days a week but still that's not great. don't ls1's get that without driving like a dick?

the decision is always yours in the end but dude an eclipse is a chick car..and for 19 g's you could pay 10 g's for a used 4 banger (maybe less) and get 25-30 mpg...and use some of the last 9'gs to buy me a supercharger

PS- 19K is a fully optioned Saturn Astra. i'd take new car over used anyday... especially since (and most people here would agree) the saturn is a better car.
