Kind of ironic that someone not talking on the cell phone gets pulled over while thousands of other people are driving while talking on their cell phones, crossing over lanes, tailgating and just plain not paying attention while driving. It's definitely worth fighting, but don't complain if you do get a ticket for talking while driving. They need to enforce this law better imo, still way too many people talking or looking down at their phone while trying to drive.

i totally agree with you jeff. they need to enforce it because its dangerous..but it in no way should be confused with someone biting their nails, or resting their head on their hand, or scratching their head...etc. he was like, look, theres your mobile phone right there. i was like, its also my ipod and its connected to my head unit. just because my phone sits on my seat doesnt mean i was using it lmao.

but im going to fight it most likely i hear its like 100 bucks it still hasnt been processed yet.

I think the problem is that people see a cruiser a mile away and put their phone down, its not a long process, so basically if your are really retarded or if a police officer is in an undercover car, they aren't going to catch cell phone talkers. they need to enforce a special task force that is all undercover, with the sole purpose of catching and ticketing these people. I can't count the times I said man I wish a police car was around.

they needto be undercover in cars other then crown vics, durango's, and the other cop cars, they need to be in under th eradar cars, and that would catch the real people breaking this law, if would create jobs, and increase revenue to the state.

There's an awesome use of resources right there.
or... you know, just have the records from drivers' mobile service providers sent to the LEOs/insurance companies whenever that motorist is involved in an accident.

2 cents.

How is NJ's law written? Are you allowed to be on the phone if you're using a bluetooth headset or speakerphone? If that's the case then people would be stupid not to invest $30 in a bluetooth and not have to worry about it.

Thats a smart thing too, it would cut down the cost to get police vehicles, but the downside is someone could say oh my friend was using my phone at the time, who are they to say they are lying, so its best to catch them red handed.

I would love to be part of that task force

I heard they were illegal due to they impari your train of throught while driving. itmay be fine, but it might be up to the municipality to what they consider illegal.

I just dont see the point of talkign while driving, unless its an emergency like needing directions, no need to be talking to becky about getting her tongue pierced with an ice pick, you can talk abotuthat when you get home, becky's not goign anywhere, so chillax.

I had a girl behind me last month up on my ass, and I mean I couldnt see her front lights. I have a ranger and my rule of thumb is if I cant see your headlights, your tailgating. So I press my brakes while still pressingthe gas to bring the lights on, hoping it would back her off, but it only made he get closer. So I slow down 10 below the limit, and she stayed right there. I pressed my brakes quickly to flash them, still nothing. the whoel time I see her talking on the cell phone. She had brown eyes, thats how close she was to me. So Finally we get to an intersectin, and while stopped, I poked my head out the window and yelled, " get off your ****ign phone jackass, when then was ensued by a chain of spanish and english curse words I still cant put together today.

I love how disgusted they look when you tell them to GTF off the phone.

I don't talk on the phone while driving unless I absolutely need to. I don't like to, it distracts me. I wish more people didn't, people around here can't drive while paying 100% attention, lol.

What about the people eating while driving and the people putting make up on while driving and the people I look over and they are changing clothes while driving or brushing there hair while driving the best one I've seen is the people shaving while driving.
There are so many other things out there that distract drivers how about the 60 foot adds on the side of the highway that take 30 secs to fully read?

All in all this law is bottom of the bottom first off cops can't do shlt unless they "SEE" you on the phone, then the 90% of the time they do "SEE" you they either make that shlt up just to pull you over or it gets thrown out of court.
All this law does is give them another reason to pull you over with out you doing any thing you know like the not putting the blinker on 50t before a turn or lane switch(been pulled over for that just so he could question me at 2 am),braking to hard at an intersection(what would you rather me blow through the red light not my fault it was yellow for all of 2 seconds).
I've had 8 cell phone tickets in the 2 years I've lived in NJ and none of them stuck.

I really don't see how the cell phone law could be enforced properly since it's a claim by the officer that they saw you on the phone. No way the state is going to research phone call logs because the timing would always be in question. But 8 cell phone tickets already!

Bluetooth is legal. Go look for one of the town signs, they all say no cell phones while driving unless using a hands free device.

Pretty sure they made it a primary offense a few years ago

Yeah Hamilton cops are the dlcks; Here is a good hamilton cop here,I was pulled over and he said I didn't have my blinker on long enough before I made a turn, that one made me laugh.
Yes 8 cell phone tickets and I haven't payed one of them.
The best one though was when I was pulled over and I was talking to some one using the blue tooth ear piece. That clown gave me a warning for talking on a phone, cause he said he saw the phone to my ear. I asked how he saw through the 5% tint, that got me another warning for my car being to loud.

Why didnt you just show him your phone at that point? The phones themselves have call logs and ended it right there. If you get into an accident now 1st thing they want to see is your phone. Why cant it be used right there also
