			I think there is a lot of truth there.  But i think that is less of an issue with efi.  Carbs will wash the cylinders down especially if the choke is problematic, causing oil dilution and accelerated wear.  That is why cylinders in newer engines often still look good with piles of miles on them.  But i think engines warm up faster under load and thus lean out sooner than an engine just idling.  I guess that is his point.

			I think the ambient temp plays a big role here. Fluids do behave differently in cold and extreme cold. Hell, tcc lock up is disabled till a certain temp. I'm not one to wait for heat but I don't turn the key and slam the gas either. I don't see an issue with idling. Very few people keep a car long enough to have an issue with cylinder wear. I remember when we were living in that polar vortex nonsense.
