no matter how fast, an automatic transmission will always be that - an AT. just by nature a sequential manual will always be faster. now, i'm not saying that gm doesn't build a good auto tranny, and i'm far from being a fan of sequential manuals, but if i had to choose between an auto and an smg, it's smg all the way, no question. not only is it faster, it also gives you much more control over the car.
just give it up and say that smg > auto
