Well, with this car adds more "wtf" to the equation.
The problem, and therefor the "wtf" is that it doesnt seem that Zeta can get small enough. Its small enough to be GTO or even Monte/Chevelle size....but not Camaro size.
Now, from what I understand, this is how it went down behind the GM curtain.
Holden entered there mid sized SWB Zeta RWD chassis into a contest, and GM NA offerd this kappa-based RWD chassis.....Holden lost.
Now, this seems to go along the lines of insider news that GMI broke about 2 months ago that Pontiac was going to bring a sedan based off Kappa.
This Torana would be a great car for Pontiac's line up.
If the Camaro were to be made off this mild-kappa car, it will probably be made in Delaware.
It would be a nice "class trip" if all of us NJFBOA members took a little tour, or even we could be there during the opening!
This Torana car has now opened up many, and IMO new doors. Now that its here, there are now more questions then answers.
-If Pontiac gets this. what will happen to the G6?
-Could this replace the Saab 9-3 as a true RWD sedan?
-If thoes 2 are true, what will become of Epsilon, the chassis now used for both the 9-3 and G6 as well as the updated version coming in 4 yrs?
-If this is the Camaro..what is this Chevy coupe that is going to be built on Zeta?
-Will this bring a Firebird?
-Will this bring a smaller Caddy?
-Could this replace the CTS as more of a true 3 series compeditor?
-Could this give Caddy a good chassis to make a smaller sedan for Europe and China?
-How soon can this be brought to production?
There are some more questions, but it involves some insider knowlage.
Anyway, Its good to see that GM is serious about RWD performance.
GM now has Sigma, Zeta, Kappa, and now this, which at the present time has no true name.
News is that this chassis has been in development, and is now getting the fast track to production.
